5.0 out of 5 stars Great Company with a Big Bang for your Buck product, November 11, 2009
This review is from: Medialink - Wireless N USB Adapter - 802.11n - 150Mbps - 2.4ghz - Windows 2000 / 2003 / XP 32-Bit and 64-Bit / Vista 32-Bit and 64-Bit / Windows 7 32-Bit and 64-Bit Compatible (Electronics)
I own a computer that utilizes Windows Vista (64 bit) and was not having success installing wireless adapters from two reputable companies. At this point I was ready to cut open walls and run the ethernet cable to my computer. I mentioned the problem to my computer geek cousin and he told me to purchase a medialink wireless adapter as it supports Windows Vista 32 and 64. So I googled the wireless adapter and found that Amazon carried it. So I went to Amazon.com and there it was in the medialink adapter's product information, compatible with Vista 32 and 64. At $29.99 ( $10.00 cheaper then the previous two adapters), I thought it was worth the risk. I recieved it two days later and proceeded to install the medialink wireless G USB adapter and again no success. At this point I'm ready to punch a hole in the wall out of frustration. I finally decided to contact Mediabridge to convey my dissatisfaction. The phone was picked up after one ring and a customer service person rerouted me to... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Compatible with WD TV Live, December 4, 2009

This review is from: Medialink - Wireless N USB Adapter - 802.11n - 150Mbps - 2.4ghz - Windows 2000 / 2003 / XP 32-Bit and 64-Bit / Vista 32-Bit and 64-Bit / Windows 7 32-Bit and 64-Bit Compatible (Electronics)
I purchased this adapter with high hopes that it would somehow magically work with my Western Digital WD TV Live, despite my knowing that it was an unrealistic expectation since the dongle comes with it's own drivers. At best, I was expecting to have to run some home-brewed firmware on the WD TV in order to get this to work.
Lo and behold, I plugged it in and it was recognized within seconds. In under a minute, the box was connected to my network and I was streaming YouTube video to my upstairs bedroom. I was absolutely amazed.

This dongle is not yet listed on WD TV Live's supported device list, and I've found no previous posts or reviews confirming this compatibility. Hope this helps those looking at this for the same reason that I was.

I recently added Mac OS X to my Windows Dell Mini 9. I had replaced the WiFi card in the Mini with an Intel 5300 which is great, but there's no Mac OS support. So I was on the lookout for an inexpensive USB adapter that supported OS X and Windows - if it was wireless N also, that would be a bonus. A couple of weeks ago when I started this search, I came up empty, but this time I found the Medialink adapter, which claimed to support Windows, OS X and Linux. I decided to give it a try.

When I received it I was upset to see that the packaging claimed support for Windows only, and the Medialink web site has only Windows drivers. But the instruction leaflet says that OS X and Linux drivers are on the CD and sure enough, they are.

Medialink claims that this is one of the smallest Wireless N USB adapters and I believe them - it's half the size of an Actiontec adapter I recently reviewed.

I first tried it under Windows 7. The driver installed... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Plays everything the others won't!, October 12, 2011

invisiblexninjas (Aurora, Colorado, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Western Digital WD TV Live Streaming Media Player - WDBHG70000NBK-HESN (Electronics)
I got this media player elsewhere locally, before Amazon dropped their price. Anyway, the GUI is fine. It's easily navigable, not cluttered at all, presented in a beautiful package, and certainly easy to read. All pluses there. The first videos I attempted to play were 720p mkv files over wireless network (on a 1TB HDD connected to my computer in the basement via USB). After taking a few seconds to gather the first few pictures from the USB--> wireless connected storage device, the WDTV Live streamed the videos seamlessly! I even paused one for like 8 minutes while making dinner, and it resumed with no noticeable glitches, artifacts, or rendering/buffering. The second (and only other) file type I attempted to play was a 1080p TS file I had recorded from my cable box. This took a little bit longer between hitting play and seeing video on the screen, but time was minimal. I want to say no more than 4 or 5 seconds. Again, it had to pull the video from the HDD to the computer via USB, and... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best choice for the $100 range of devices, October 11, 2011
This review is from: Western Digital WD TV Live Streaming Media Player - WDBHG70000NBK-HESN (Electronics)
I want to start by letting you all know that I'm very picky about my electronics and I'm not easily satisfied nowadays, so I always play with several products before sticking with one. I've gone through the wdtv live plus (grey model with small remote), sony smp-n100, and the apple tv 2 before trying out this device (also used various BD players, gaming consoles for netflix/youtube streaming). I must say that this unit takes the cake in terms of what you get for the price.

Too lazy to give you my full story and thoughts so I'm just going to sum it up and give comparisons to the atv2, which I'd consider the next best choice for a set top box.

-Video quality exceeded my expectations (netflix, youtube, network streaming)
-Youtube steams HD (unlike smp-n100 and other revisions of the wdtv live/plus)
-Wifi is integrated in this unit but won't see my N network (no big deal)
-Youtube won't allow you to access your subscriptions from the app, only your... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice upgrades but could've been much better, October 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Western Digital WD TV Live Streaming Media Player - WDBHG70000NBK-HESN (Electronics)
This product is a nice upgrade over the previous model since it does add Wifi and a greatly improved GUI. But some of the new features are kind of handicapped.

-The wireless N function of this device is 2.4ghz only. So if you have a 5ghz wireless N network you will be stuck either changing your router settings or using wireless G

-The metadata information only downloads for files that are directly attached to the device through USB not over the network.

-Unable to rate or add favorites for your files or folders over the network, only on directly attached storage.

Overall, still a great product since it plays everything I've thrown at it but could've been much better.

This review is from: Viewsonic VX2450WM-LED 24-Inch (23.6-Inch Vis) Widescreen LED Monitor with Full HD 1080p and Speakers - Black (Personal Computers)
I bought twelve of these for my digital arts studio. Overall, I'm very happy with them and even more happy with the excellent sale price I got at Amazon.com.

Pros:
* Rock-solid, beautifully saturated and bright image quality.
* Easy to use controls and driver disk (which you may need for optimum resolution on some computers)
* Kinda sexy multi-colored indicator light below the screen changes from blue (on) to amber (sleep) to off.
* Sturdy, adjustable stand which attaches easily.
* Just the right amount of "matte" finish to avoid the annoying glare and "mirror" effect that some screens have, without any sacrifice of brightness or clarity.

Cons:
* As with most LCD screens, colors shift somewhat with viewing angle. If you are a graphics design or video editing shop with exacting color calibration requirements, buy a (much) more expensive IPS screen if you can. (I couldn't afford a decent IPS screen, and this inexpensive... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive!, September 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Viewsonic VX2450WM-LED 24-Inch (23.6-Inch Vis) Widescreen LED Monitor with Full HD 1080p and Speakers - Black (Personal Computers)
I purchased two of the ViewSonic VX2450WM-LED monitors and received them this past Tuesday. Absolutely impressive!

Amazon should be commended for their great packaging of the monitor boxes. The boxes were huge, and I am impressed that Amazon took their time to package something properly before shipping it to me.

These LED-backlit monitors replaced two SAMSUNG 226BW CCFL-backlit monitors that I got from Amazon over three years ago. One of them broke down after the warranty expired. The other one is fine, and I am selling that one. Once you have a dual monitor setup it is very difficult to go back to using only one monitor.

This is my first time purchasing a ViewSonic LCD monitor. I am so glad I got these LED-backlit monitors, because the picture on them is quite beautiful. What a difference from CCFL-backlit monitors! The colors are more vivid and the text is much more clear IMO.

The best thing is that they both use the same amount of... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a very good choice oh yeah Finally someone!Wrote a review, September 14, 2010
This review is from: Viewsonic VX2450WM-LED 24-Inch (23.6-Inch Vis) Widescreen LED Monitor with Full HD 1080p and Speakers - Black (Personal Computers)
Ok let me first say that I was looking for any review a user would have on this monitor.
I searched for hours w/ reviews but never owners until I found 3 reviews on Egghead that's it.
I wondered why not any owner reviews? I still don't know.
Here's what I know so far I have used this monitor for 2 days with great results.
I just went into the menu and set it to MEMORY RECALL (1# is Exit)(#2 is Select) low and behold the whites looked whiter and the dark's were
dark. The back-lit L.E.D. seems to make images sharper then my cold cathode florescent lights (old technology)do.
Good:
The colors and lighting are fine , No Heat from this screen, and it has a sharp image, also easier on the eyes.
This monitor saves you money because the VX2450WM 24" only uses about 28-30Watts. My older 24"Gateway uses 125Watts.
This monitor DOES have vesa screw holes in back for mounting an monitor arm -
Bad:
This monitor is very... Read more
